What to Pack On Long Haul Flights With Children

Overview:

This article is purely a checklist of items you may wish to consider packing for the flight. We will cover tips & tricks on how to survive long haul flights with children in another article.

Entertainment:

  • Crayons, pencils & colouring in books, paper

  • Stickers

  • Story books

  • Small tubs of playdoh

  • Portable DVD player

  • Playing cards

  • Nintendo DS, Gameboy etc.

  • Lego

  • Surprise toys & or books. Wrap these up in gift paper to make them more exciting.

Food:

  • Snacks including dried fruit, crackers, muesli bars

  • Hard lolly for take off & landing

  • Bottles & formula if necessary

Other:

  • 2 - 3 changes of clothes, including a jumper because planes can become chilly

  • Nappies

  • Baby wipes

  • Nappy rash cream

  • Bags to dispose of nappies

  • Pacifier/dummy (if your child uses one)

  • A favourite blanket/bunnyrug

  • A favourite soft toy

  • Medications your child may be on (if this is prescription, obtain a note from your doctor)

  • Slippers for long haul flights

  • Panadol

  • Face cloth

Check with the airline you are flying with to find out what restrictions they have on luggage including prohibited items, weight allowance, check in times etc.
